As reported by Billboard, Spotify is now testing a feature that would restrict access to song lyrics within the app for free users.
"At Spotify, we routinely conduct a number of tests, some of those tests end up paving the way for our broader user experience and others serve only as an important learning," a Spotify spokesman stated in a statement provided to Billboard. As is our tradition, we are conducting limited trials with a subset of consumers in two different markets. There is no more information available at this time.
